Board Certified Pediatrician in Gainesville. I graduated from San Martin de Porres University in Lima, Peru. In Peru I served as the Director of a Medical Center in Callao, Peru (main port and one of lowest income cities of Peru). I was able to coordinate many immunization and health care programs for children in the community. I decided to move back home to Chicago where I completed a Masters of Public Health at the University of Illinois and worked as a 2nd grade teacher. I completed the master's degree and was able to be involved as a research associate at many city and federal organizations. In 2004, I completed the Pediatric Residency at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating I settled in Gainesville in private practice until establishing Kids Doc Pediatrics in 2007. I participate as a member of the University of Florida – Pediatrics After Hours. I have privileges at Shands - University of Florida and North Florida Regional Medical Center.
Though I was born in Chicago and raised in Lima, Peru I have learned to love Gainesville that has given me the opportunity to raise my children in a great city. Outside of work I enjoy traveling and spending time with my wife and 3 children (Gianella, Andrea, and Piero). I enjoy watching and playing soccer with my children.
I was born in Peru and come from a family of 5 sisters. I studied Elementary Education and became a Preschool teacher in Peru and later worked as a kindergarten teacher in Chicago. After completing my career in Education I married Dr. Scaccabarrozzi in 1993. I am a mother of 3 children: Gianella, Andrea, and Piero. Upon arrival in Gainesville I became the Spanish teacher at Queen of Peace Catholic Academy. I've always been interested in working with children and feel privileged in being part of Kids Doc Pediatrics. I have been the office manager since opening in 2007. I strive in making our priority in service being "patients are the most important people in our practice..
I’m Jen and I am so excited to join the team as a Nurse Practioner at Kids Doc Pediatrics! I have been a nurse for 10 years and have had the privilege to work with a variety of patients from birth to death!
I spent the majority of my career taking care of the sickest of the sick in the ICU at Shands UF, but have always loved and wanted to end up in pediatrics working with kids! I spent the first 6 summers of my nursing career as a Camp Nurse at the Florida Camp for Children and Youth with Diabetes. Most recently I worked in Labor and Delivery/Mother Baby at North Florida and loved being the “baby nurse”. It’s always so amazing to be the first person to hear a newborn’s heartbeat when they are born and see them take their first breath!
I’m married to my best friend, Matt, and I’m the mommy to one great little boy, Vance! I am the Aunt to one sweet niece, and 2 nephews… as well Aunt Jen to my friend’s kids... all who I love as my own! I love to have the title the “Fun Aunt” and am just really a kid at heart! I love to travel, especially to the beach! I like cooking and definitely eating fresh “clean” foods. I love sharing my ideas and teaching others tips and tricks on healthy living! I truly believe that each person has his/her own path, and how you choose to take it is within yourself. I love, love love to laugh and make others laugh!
I’m a true Florida girl and grew up in Tampa, but have been in Gainesville for over years now! I attended Santa Fe College for my ASN, University of Central Florida for my BSN and Maryville University for my Masters in Nursing.
I can’t wait to get to know each of our Kids Doc Families and see your littles grow! One of my favorite sayings is “It takes a village” and I’m proud to have an amazing village for my son to grow up in and look forward to caring for each of yours as well!
Hi, I am Michele Coleman, the Nurse practitioner here at Kids Doc Pediatrics. I was born in NJ but moved to south Florida when I was very young. I attended the University of Florida for my undergraduate schooling and obtained a Bachelors in the Science of Nursing in 2006, and then my Masters degree in pediatric primary care in 2008, Go Gators! Previously, I worked as an RN at Shands Children's hospital for 5 years. I have now been with the Kids Doc Pediatrics team for nearly 3 years.
I have a wonderful, supportive husband and two young boys, Bradley and Brody, who are the light of my life. I live in Newberry, just outside Gainesville. I love family time, the beach, going on the boat, and Disney. Hobbies of mine include, photography and crafting.
I have always wanted children and have always wanted to be surrounded by them, I couldn't see my life or profession anywhere else. Kids have a fantastic way of making you smile, their resilience and innocence is like nothing else. I am proud of and humbled by the families I get to work with, I have the best job in the world!
Jennifer Owens began her medical career in 1999 working with adults and pediatrics. She joined Kids Doc Pediatrics in 2008. She is currently working on completing her Masters in Nursing Degree. Jennifer is married to her husband Joe, with their one son Ethan, who keeps them very busy with baseball and football. The reason Jennifer chose to become a nurse and work in Pediatrics because she finds her daily job rewarding, and it allows her to be a part of each child’s developmental stages big or small, sick or well on a daily basis!
